Welcome to the EarthTrends Podcast

EarthTrends Podcasts are assembled by artists, scientists and activists concerned about global warming. These podcasts are the result of a collaboration between the World Resources Institute, the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, StopGlobalWarming.org and concerned musicians.

Over the course of the next 6 months, we will produce monthly podcasts with artist interviews, ways you can "green" your lifestyle, the latest news on global warming, and--of course--great music.

What is Global Warming?

The earth's climate system is the product of a delicate balance. The atmosphere naturally traps just enough heat in the atmosphere to keep the temperature within a very narrow range. That balance has been destabilized by an increase in the concentration of heat-trapping emissions sometimes called "greenhouse gases" in the atmosphere. On EarthTrends, you can find many resources to understand the causes and effects of climate change. Click "Climate and Atmosphere" on the header bar above, or look to the EarthTrends Climate Change Information Guide for a synopsis of information on this site.

Climate Change Resources:
Climate Analysis Indicators Tool (CAIT)
Developed by the World Resources Institute, CAIT provides a comprehensive and comparable database of greenhouse gas emissions data (including all major sources and sinks) and other climate-relevant indicators.
Safe Climate for Business
A joint project of the World Resources Institute and the Center for Environmental Leadership in Business, dedicated to helping business of all sizes understand and take action on climate change.
RealClimate.org
RealClimate is a commentary site on climate science by working climate scientists for the interested public and journalists.
StopGlobalWarming.org
The Stop Global Warming Virtual March is a non-political effort bringing Americans together to declare that global warming is here now and it's time to act.
United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
Over a decade ago, most countries joined an international treaty -- the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) -- to begin to consider what can be done to reduce global warming and to cope with whatever temperature increases are inevitable. Recently, a number of nations have approved an addition to the treaty: the Kyoto Protocol, which has more powerful (and legally binding) measures.
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been established by WMO and UNEP to assess scientific, technical and socio- economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.
